Archaeologist and excavator of ancient manuscripts
Bernard Grenfell was a British archaeologist and excavator who discovered the Oxyrhynchus Papyri, a collection of ancient manuscripts that included significant portions of the Greek New Testament. Born in 1869, he worked with his colleague Arthur Hunt to excavate and publish the papyri, which shed new light on the text of the New Testament. Grenfell was a pioneer in the field of papyrology and made significant contributions to our understanding of ancient manuscripts.
