Field Marshal of the British Army
Field Marshal Bernard Montgomery was a British Army officer who served during World War I and World War II. He is best known for his leadership of the Allied forces during the North African Campaign and the D-Day landings. Montgomery was born in 1887 in Kennington, London, and educated at the Royal Military College at Sandhurst. He served in the British Army for over 40 years, rising to the rank of Field Marshal. Montgomery was known for his tactical genius and his ability to inspire his troops. He was also a skilled writer and published several books on military history. Montgomery died in 1976 at the age of 88.
