Theologian and hymnwriter
Bernard of Clairvaux was a French theologian and hymnwriter who lived in the 12th century. He was born into a wealthy family but abandoned his life of affluence to enter a monastery at the age of 22. He became a prominent figure in the Catholic Church and was known for his powerful preaching and his ability to inspire devotion in his listeners. Bernard wrote many hymns and sermons that are still widely used today. He is considered one of the greatest theologians of the Middle Ages and his legacy continues to inspire people around the world.
