Beryl Markham was a British-Kenyan pilot, author, and adventurer. She was born in 1902 in British Kenya and grew up in a colonial family. Markham was a pioneering female pilot and the first woman to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean. She was also a skilled horse rider and trained horses for racing. Markham wrote several books about her life and adventures, including her autobiography, which was adapted into the episode. She was known for her bravery, determination, and sense of adventure. Markham passed away in 1986 at the age of 83.
