William Frederick Cody, known as Buffalo Bill, was an American scout, soldier, and showman. He was a key figure in the development of the American West and was known for his bravery and leadership. Cody was a skilled marksman and soldier, and he served in the Union Army during the American Civil War. After the war, he became a famous showman and entertainer, hosting Wild West shows and exhibitions. He was also a businessman and investor, and he played a key role in the development of the town of Cody, Wyoming. Cody was married to Louisa May Alcott's friend, Rose Cody, but their marriage was marked by scandal and tragedy. He died in 1917 at the age of 61.
