Bill Fothergill was a former MLB player who played for the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Chicago Cubs. He was a catcher and played in the major leagues from 1901 to 1912. Fothergill was known for his strong throwing arm and his ability to handle the pitching staff. He was a key player on the Pirates' 1909 World Series championship team. Fothergill is also known for his role in the development of the Pirates' farm system.
