Jacobite leader
James Francis Edward Stuart, commonly known as Bonnie Prince Charlie, was the grandson of James II of England and VII of Scotland. He was the leader of the Jacobite rising of 1745 and is remembered for his bravery and charisma. Stuart was born in Rome in 1720 and was raised in France. He returned to Scotland in 1745 to lead the Jacobite forces against the British government. Despite his military successes, Stuart was ultimately defeated at the Battle of Culloden in 1746. He fled to the Continent, where he lived in exile until his death in 1788.
