Bouthaina Shaaban

Bouthaina Shaaban is a Syrian diplomat who has served as the Ambassador to the United Nations since 2007. She is a member of the Ba'ath Party and has been a prominent figure in Syrian politics. Shaaban has been involved in various international efforts to address the Syrian civil war and has been a vocal critic of Western intervention in the country. She was born in Damascus, Syria, and graduated from the University of Damascus. Shaaban has been married to her husband, Faisal, since 1975.
