He was born on March 11, 1999, in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Bowman played junior ice hockey for the Kitchener Dutchmen of the Greater Ontario Junior Hockey League (GOJHL) and the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL). He was drafted by the Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.
