Brandon Teena was an American transgender man who was murdered in 1993. He was born Maureen Smith and began transitioning in the early 1990s. Brandon became a prominent figure in the transgender community and was featured in the documentary film "Boys Don't Cry". He was murdered by two men who discovered his true identity.
