Founder of Saint Joseph's Oratory
Brother André was a Catholic priest and founder of Saint Joseph's Oratory in Montreal. He was born in 1870 in rural Quebec and grew up in a poor family. He entered the novitiate of the Congregation of Holy Cross at the age of 16 and took the name Brother André. He spent most of his life in humble service, working as a porter and doorkeeper at the oratory. Brother André was known for his humility, faith, and kindness, and his life was marked by numerous healings and conversions. He was beatified in 2010 and canonized in 2016.
