James Buchanan Barnes, also known as Bucky Barnes, is a fictional character appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is a childhood friend and fellow soldier of Steve Rogers, and was thought to have been killed in action during World War II. He was later revealed to be alive and became the Winter Soldier.
