C. J. Sansom is a British author of historical fiction novels. He was born in 1952 in Leicester, England. Sansom studied law at Cambridge University and later became a barrister. He began writing novels in the 1990s and has since become known for his Shardlake series, which is set in 16th-century England. Sansom's novels often explore themes of politics, history, and social justice. He has won several awards for his writing, including the Costa Book Award and the Theakston Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year. Sansom lives in Oxford, England.
