Davis Distinguished Professor of American Literature
Carla Kaplan is a renowned American literary scholar and historian. She has published seven books on American literature and culture, including Miss Anne in Harlem and Zora Neale Hurston: A Life in Letters. Kaplan has held fellowships from the Guggenheim Foundation and the National Endowment for the Humanities. She serves on the board of Biographers International Organization and is a Society of American Historians Fellow. Kaplan earned her PhD in English from Harvard University.
