Leader of the Cassini imaging team
Carolyn Porco is a planetary scientist and astronomer who served as the project scientist for the Cassini mission. She is known for her work on the Cassini-Huygens mission to Saturn and its moons. Porco has a Ph.D. in astronomy from the University of California, Berkeley, and has published numerous papers on planetary science and astronomy. She is a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and has received several awards for her contributions to the field. Porco is also a science communicator and has written articles for various publications, including The New York Times and Scientific American. She is currently a professor of astronomy at the University of California, Santa Cruz.
