British poet and academic
Charles Causley was a British poet, academic, and broadcaster. He was born in 1917 and died in 2003. Causley was a prominent figure in British poetry, known for his collections of poetry and his work as a broadcaster. He was a regular contributor to BBC Radio 4's 'Desert Island Discs' programme, and presented several episodes himself. Causley was also a professor of English at the University of Exeter, and was a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature. He was awarded an OBE in 1976 for his services to literature.
