Charles Haddon Spurgeon was a British Baptist preacher and pastor who is widely regarded as one of the most influential Christians in history. Born on June 26, 1834, in London, England, Spurgeon was the son of a cobbler and was raised in a poor family. He became a preacher at the age of 16 and went on to found the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, which became one of the largest and most influential Baptist churches in the world. Spurgeon was known for his powerful sermons, his advocacy for social justice, and his commitment to the poor. He was also a prolific writer and published numerous books on theology and preaching. Spurgeon died on January 31, 1892, at the age of 57.
