Poet and essayist
Charles Simic is a Slovenian-American poet, essayist, and translator. He was born in 1938 in Ljubljana, Yugoslavia, and immigrated to the United States in 1963. Simic has published numerous collections of poetry and essays, and has won numerous awards for his work, including the Pulitzer Prize for Poetry in 1991. He has also translated the works of many other poets and writers, and has taught at several universities, including Yale and Columbia.
