Chester Beatty

Chester Beatty was a British-American businessman, philanthropist, and collector of rare books and manuscripts. Born in 1876, he made his fortune in the rubber industry before turning to collecting. Beatty's collection included the famous Codex Sinaiticus, one of the oldest and most complete copies of the Bible. He also donated his library to the British Library, where it remains a valuable resource for scholars today. Beatty was known for his extensive travels and his support for various charitable causes.
