About Chuck
Chuck Hughes was an American football player who played in the National Football League (NFL) as a defensive tackle for the Detroit Lions. He played college football at the University of Texas at El Paso and was a standout player on the UTEP Miners football team. Hughes tragically died on the field in 1973, becoming the only NFL player to die as a result of injuries sustained during a game.
