Ciaran Carson is a Northern Irish poet and novelist. He was born in Belfast in 1948 and has written extensively on the history and culture of Northern Ireland. Carson has won numerous awards for his poetry and fiction, including the Whitbread Prize and the Queen's Gold Medal for Poetry. He is known for his lyrical and evocative writing style.
