Clifton Chenier was an American musician, singer, and songwriter who is widely regarded as the father of zydeco music. Born in 1925 in Lake Charles, Louisiana, Chenier was a key figure in popularizing zydeco music, which originated in the Acadian people of Louisiana. He was a prolific recording artist and won numerous awards for his music, including multiple Grammy Awards.
