Anthropologist and author
Colin Turnbull was a British anthropologist and author. He is best known for his work on the Mbuti people of the Congo and his book, 'The Forest People', which was published in 1961. Turnbull was a professor of anthropology at the University of Cambridge and was a fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute. He was also a fellow of the British Academy and was awarded a CBE in 1975 for his services to anthropology. Turnbull was a prolific writer and published several books on anthropology and culture. He was also a frequent contributor to various publications, including The Times and The Guardian. Turnbull was a fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and was a member of the Council of the Royal Anthropological Institute. He was also a fellow of the Cambridge University Press. Turnbull was a graduate of the University of Cambridge and was awarded a PhD in anthropology from the University of Cambridge. He was married to the anthropologist, Margaret Mead.
