Irish novelist and screenwriter
Colum McCann is an Irish novelist and screenwriter. He was born in Dublin, Ireland, and grew up in a family of modest means. McCann studied English literature at University College Dublin and later earned a master's degree in creative writing from Columbia University. He has written several novels, including 'This Must Be the Place' and 'Let the Great World Spin', which won the National Book Award for Fiction in 2006. McCann has also written screenplays for films such as 'The Namesake' and 'Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist'. He has been awarded numerous literary prizes, including the National Book Award, the National Book Critics Circle Award, and the PEN/Faulkner Award.
