Retired Air Force Lieutenant General
Dave Deptula is a retired Air Force Lieutenant General who has served in a variety of roles, including as the commander of the 20th Air Force and as the deputy commander of the Air Force Space Command. Deptula has also served as a member of the Air Force's senior leadership team and has been involved in a number of high-level policy discussions. He is a graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and has a master's degree in aeronautical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Deptula has written several books on national security and defense, including a memoir about his time in the Air Force. He is a frequent commentator on television and radio programs, including PBS NewsHour and NPR's Morning Edition. Deptula is based in the Washington, D.C. area.
