Former Archbishop of York
David Hope is a British Anglican cleric who served as the Archbishop of York from 1996 to 2007. He was the second most important prelate in the Church of England during his tenure. Before becoming Archbishop, Hope served as the Bishop of Durham and the Bishop of Leeds. He is a traditionalist and has been critical of the ordination of women and the inclusion of practising homosexuals in the church. Hope has also been a vocal advocate for the importance of tradition and the role of the church in society. He has written several books on theology and has been a frequent contributor to the media on matters of faith and politics. Hope is married and has two children.
