David I. Backer

David I. Backer is an associate professor of education policy at the University of Texas at Austin. He is the author of As Public as Possible: How to Fix Our Broken Education System and Make School More Fair, Accessible, and Effective. Backer's research focuses on education policy, school finance, and the relationship between education and economic inequality. He has written for various publications, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Education Week. Backer is also a frequent commentator on education policy issues. He has taught at several universities, including Harvard and the University of California, Berkeley. Backer holds a Ph.D. in education policy from Harvard University.
