David Liao

David Liao is a Chinese-American business executive. He serves as Co-CEO of HSBC’s Asia and Middle East region. Prior to this role, Liao held various leadership positions at HSBC, including CEO of the bank’s Hong Kong and Macau operations. He has also served as a member of the bank’s Group Executive Committee. Liao holds an MBA from Harvard Business School and an undergraduate degree from the University of California, Berkeley. He is a fellow of the Asian Institute of Management and a member of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission’s Advisory Committee. Liao is also a director of several companies, including the Hong Kong Stock Exchange and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority. He is fluent in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese.
