David Shire

David Shire is a musicologist and composer known for his work on Jewish musical traditions. Born in 1952 in New York City, Shire studied music at Columbia University and later earned a Ph.D. in musicology from Harvard University. He has written extensively on the history and significance of Jewish music, and has composed music for numerous films and theater productions. Shire is currently a professor of musicology at the University of California, Los Angeles.
