Dennis Doherty

Dennis Doherty was an Australian prisoner who spent most of his life in prison. He was born in 1814 in Derry and was flogged 3,000 times during his time in prison. Doherty was also held in solitary confinement for years, but he continued to struggle for freedom. Despite his difficult circumstances, Doherty became a symbol of hope and resilience for many people. He is still remembered today as a remarkable individual who overcame incredible adversity.
