Domenico Scarlatti was an Italian composer and harpsichordist who lived in the 18th century. He is best known for his sonatas for solo harpsichord, which are considered some of the most important works of the Baroque period. Scarlatti was born in Rome in 1685 and began his musical training at a young age. He went on to study with several prominent composers of the time, including George Frideric Handel. Scarlatti's music was widely performed during his lifetime, and he was considered one of the leading composers of his era. He died in 1757 at the age of 72. Despite his passing, Scarlatti's music continues to be widely performed and admired today.
