Co-founder of the Catholic Worker movement
Dorothy Day was an American Catholic social activist, journalist, and writer. She was the co-founder of the Catholic Worker movement, which aimed to put Catholic teachings into practice through service to the poor and marginalized. Day was a prominent figure in the Catholic Church in the United States during the mid-20th century. She was known for her advocacy on behalf of the poor and her commitment to nonviolent resistance. Day was also a prolific writer and published several books and articles on Catholic social teaching and spirituality. She was beatified by the Catholic Church in 2015 and is currently being considered for sainthood.
