Co-founder of AA and physician
Dr. Bob Smith was an American physician and co-founder of Alcoholics Anonymous. He was born in 1893 and grew up in a family of modest means. Dr. Bob developed a passion for medicine and eventually became a doctor. He met Bill Wilson in 1935 and the two men formed the foundation of AA. Dr. Bob was a key figure in the development of the 12-step program and wrote extensively on the topic of addiction and recovery. He passed away in 1950, but his legacy lives on through the millions of people who have found recovery through AA.
