Igor Ivanovich Demikhov was a Russian surgeon and scientist who made significant contributions to the field of organ transplantation. He is best known for his work on canine heart-lung transplantation and his development of the technique of connecting two dogs head-to-tail. Demikhov was a pioneer in the field of transplantation and his work paved the way for modern organ transplantation. He was a professor at the Moscow Medical Academy and was awarded several honors for his contributions to science. Demikhov passed away in 1990.
