Indigenous researcher and conservation biologist
Dr. Maria Mefo is an Indigenous researcher and conservation biologist who has worked with several organizations to support Indigenous-led conservation efforts. She has a Ph.D. in biology from the University of British Columbia and has conducted research on the impacts of climate change on Indigenous communities. Mefo is a member of the Tlingit Nation and has been a vocal advocate for Indigenous rights and self-determination. She has given talks on the importance of Indigenous-led conservation and has worked with several organizations to support Indigenous-led conservation initiatives.
