Nuclear physicist and survivor of the Hiroshima bombing
Tsutomu Yamaguchi was a Japanese nuclear physicist who survived the atomic bombing of Hiroshima in 1945. He was working on the Manhattan Project at the time and was present in Hiroshima when the bomb was dropped. Yamaguchi's experiences during the war had a profound impact on his life and he went on to become a prominent advocate for nuclear disarmament. He wrote a book about his experiences and was awarded the Japanese government's highest honor for his contributions to the country's peace movement.
