American playwright and theatre director
Edward Albee was an American playwright, theatre director, and actor. He is known for his absurdist plays, such as Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? and The Zoo Story. Albee was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1999 for his play The Play About the Baby. He was also awarded the National Medal of Arts in 2002. Albee was born on March 12, 1928, in Washington, D.C., and died on September 16, 2016, in Montauk, New York.
