Edwin Arnold was a British poet and writer, best known for his poem 'The Cross of St. George'. He was a prominent figure in the Victorian era, known for his literary works and his advocacy for social justice. Arnold was also a pioneer in the field of nursing, and his poem 'The Conqueror' is often credited with inspiring Florence Nightingale to become a nurse. He was born in 1832 and died in 1904.
