Elisha Otis

Elisha Otis was an American inventor and entrepreneur. He is best known for inventing the safety elevator, a device that prevented elevators from falling in case of a cable failure. Otis was born in 1811 and died in 1861. He was a pioneer in the field of elevator technology and his invention revolutionized the way people moved around cities. Otis was also a successful businessman and founded the Otis Elevator Company, which is still in operation today.
