Émile Zola was a prominent French novelist, playwright, and journalist. Born on July 19, 1840, in Paris, France, he is best known for his series of novels, 'Les Rougon-Macquart,' which explored the lives of the working class in France. Zola's writing often focused on social issues, such as poverty, inequality, and the struggles of the common man. He was a pioneer of the naturalist movement in literature and was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1902. Zola passed away on September 29, 1902, but his works continue to be widely read and studied today.
