Ernst II, Elector Palatine was a German prince and politician who was a member of the House of Wittelsbach. He was the Elector Palatine of the Holy Roman Empire and the ruler of the Palatinate. Ernst II was a prominent figure in German politics during the 16th century and played a key role in the Protestant Reformation. He was a close ally of Martin Luther and supported the Protestant cause. Ernst II died in 1574 at the age of 57.
