Eunice Kennedy Shriver was an American philanthropist, activist, and author. She was the sister of President John F. Kennedy and the wife of Sargent Shriver. Eunice was a pioneer in the field of disability rights and founded the Special Olympics in 1968. She was also a prominent advocate for women's rights and civil rights. Eunice received numerous awards for her work, including the Presidential Medal of Freedom. She was also a bestselling author and published several books on disability rights and social justice. Eunice passed away in 2009, but her legacy continues to inspire people around the world.
