Ferdinand de Lesseps was a French diplomat and entrepreneur. He is best known for founding the Suez Canal Company and attempting to build the Panama Canal. De Lesseps was born in 1805 in Versailles, France. He studied law and entered the French civil service, where he rose to become a diplomat. De Lesseps was a charismatic leader and was able to rally support for his projects. He was also a pioneer in the field of international diplomacy and was known for his ability to negotiate treaties and agreements between countries. De Lesseps died in 1894 in Paris, France.
