Frances Perkins

Frances Ellen Perkins was an American social worker, politician, and activist. She was the first woman to serve as Secretary of Labor under President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Perkins was a key figure in the development of the Social Security Act, and her work had a lasting impact on American labor policies. She was also a pioneer for women's rights and social justice.
