Founder of the Salesians
Francesco Bosco was an Italian Catholic priest and founder of the Salesians of Don Bosco. He was born in 1815 in Castelnuovo Berardenga and died in 1888 in Turin. Bosco was known for his work with young people and his advocacy for social justice. He founded the Salesians in 1859 and established the first Salesian school in Turin. Bosco was beatified in 1922 and canonized in 1934. He is still revered as a saint by many Catholics today.
