Philosopher and theologian
Francisco de Vitoria was a Spanish Dominican friar, philosopher, and theologian. Born in 1492 in Barchent, Spain, he studied at the University of Salamanca and later at the Dominican University of Paris. He was a prominent figure in the development of modern natural law theory and was known for his work on the rights of indigenous peoples. Vitoria was a key figure in the development of the concept of human rights.
