Francois Duvalier, also known as Papa Doc, was a Haitian politician and dictator who ruled Haiti from 1957 until his death in 1971. He was the son of Haitian dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier and succeeded him as president after his death. Francois Duvalier was known for his authoritarian rule and his suppression of opposition.
