Swiss astrophysicist and cosmologist
Fritz Zwicky was a Swiss astrophysicist and cosmologist who made significant contributions to our understanding of the universe. He is best known for his work on the existence of dark matter, which he first proposed in the 1930s. Zwicky's work on the Coma galaxy cluster led to the discovery of dark matter, and he is considered one of the pioneers in the field of cosmology. He was a professor at Caltech and was awarded the National Medal of Science in 1972.
