Gareth Thomas is a Welsh rugby union player and LGBTQ+ rights advocate. He played for the Wales national team from 1995 to 2007 and was the captain of the team from 2002 to 2007. He publicly came out as gay in 2009 and has since become an advocate for LGBTQ+ rights in sports.
