General Charles George Gordon was a British Army officer and administrator who served in various parts of the world, including India, Sudan, and China. He is best known for his role in the Siege of Khartoum during the Mahdist War. Gordon was a prominent figure in Victorian society and was known for his bravery and leadership. He was also a prolific writer and published several books on military strategy and administration. Gordon died in 1885 during the Siege of Khartoum.
